Opinion: Taekkyon is basically a Taekwondo with one extra trick up its sleeve: hitstun. Taekkyon currently ties with Agent and Shoot Boxing among others as scrolls with the highest amount of hitstun on its kicks. Aside from that and the kick animation, there's really almost nothing that separates Taekkyon from Taekwondo.

Axe Kick

Taekkyon loses the PKK combo Taekwondo had and replaces it with a two-hit knockdown. Pretty useless, mostly, unless you're playing on a map like Moon.

Taekkyon's kick combo is similar to Taekwondo's, except the animations are very different. Taekkyon's kicks are hugely "spinny", so they have great peripheral range but sacrifice some frontal range. But perhaps the most dangerous aspect of Taekkyon's kicks is the absolutely massive stun they provide. Taekkyon will always win a stun war (two hits collide at the same time), and ending combos early will leave some opponents confused and force them to block. The kick combo has no delays except for the last kick, which can be delayed hugely.

STRATEGY:

Taekkyon is pretty much the same thing as Taekwondo except it has better kicks. Play it the exact same way you would Taekwondo.
