Viper
Description: This style developed by the High Council imitates the viper and its lightning fast attacks and strikes. Beat your opponents down with stylish kicks!
Price: 200 Astros
Class: All
Opinion: Viper is a unique scroll in the way that it's a high-damage kick-based scroll that is not spammable. In fact, spamming Viper will more often than not get you killed more than anything else. Viper does massive damage with its attacks when combined with its kG groundhit, but the lack of a truly reliable juggle launcher, the possession of below-average kick recoveries and a highly linear playstyle keep Viper from being overpowered.
DIFFICULTY TO USE: EASY+

DIFFICULTY TO MASTER: MODERATE+

POTENTIAL: MODERATE

Combos:
PPPP - [450]
KKKKK - [481]
K(K+G) - [190]
KP - [270]
kG - [200] (120)
>>GKKK - [380]

Serpent Strike
PPPP
80, 100, 120, 150 [450]
Viper's punch combo is straightforward and quite reliable for the most part. The first punch is the exact same as a scroll we all know and love (Zin Taekwondo), so it's fast and has amazing priority and cooldown. The rest of the combo is pretty basic overall. Keep in mind that any one of the punches (bar the last) recover faster than any of Viper's kicks, so this combo makes for better pressure than KKKKK.

A useful thing to note is that the last hit angles well due to the fact that it doesn't move your character a whole lot, and has a rather wide hitbox. Keep this in mind, because Viper is highly linear and this is pretty much the only attack with such a hitbox.

Viper Rush
KKKKK
90, 50, 55, 90, 100, 160* [481]
* - reduced damage due to air-time attack
Viper's kick combo is long, painful, and it fence-edges. In addition, it can always be followed up with a ground hit, effectively making the total damage 600+. Your first kick is somewhat fast, but has relatively low stun, meaning you usually will lose out in a stun war. Its use as interrupting combos is quite limited as well. While all of your kicks have incredible frontal range and movement, all of the kicks have horrible peripheral range and recovery, making Viper easy prey against good drifting. As such, spamming the kicks will get you killed faster than you can say "Baek Doo San" (didany1cwatididthar). Keep the usage of your kicks in moderation and focus on punishing the opponent rather than pressuring them with kicks. Because all of the kicks have insane movement, angling your attacks out of the way to avoid attacks is a very viable option. In fact, this is a great way to negate the horrible cooldown of your kicks when facing a blocking opponent. Overall the kick combo is pretty difficult to control because each kick moves so damn much.

Viper's kick combo makes for great anti-air. As long as any one of the kicks connect on an airborne opponent, no delays are required to connect the rest of the kicks.

Snake Bite
K(K+G)
90, 100 [190]
Viper's juggle launcher is highly akin to Muhon's. A two-hit stun launcher is all too familiar. Unlike Muhon's however, Viper's is partially safe because of the space it puts between you and a blocking opponent. The (K+G) portion of the attack pushes your opponent away if they block it, making shorter ranged scrolls unable to punish you (keep in mind that scrolls like Zin Karate and Rage will be able to counterattack immediately and successfully). You should always be going for the juggle whenever you can, but because it's a two-hit launcher where the slightest delay causes the launcher to be blockable, it's rather unreliable so it's not advised. If you're unsure whether the launcher will land, switch to a Viper Rush instead. It's better to deal 600+ damage than no damage at all.

Viper Fist
KP
90, 180 [270]
Viper's two-hit knockdown is short, sweet, and simple. Use it to knock people off, and never use it in a 1v1. Can always be followed up with a kG for that extra distance and damage.

Venom Fang
kG
200 - standing
(120) - grounded
Viper's kG is arguably the best ground hit in the game. Massive damage and blistering speed combined with good range allow for rife, damaging ground-hit opportunities. Venom Fang can connect after any of the following:

PPPP - requires a wall
KKKKK
KP
>>GKKK
kG
a throw - requires a wall
a recovery kick/punch
a successful juggle
any knockdown attack to the back
after knocking your opponent out of the air

As previously mentioned, Viper's kG is pretty damn good. Use it every opportunity you get, because 120 damage adds up very fast.

Hunting Hawk
>>GKKK
110, 120, 150 [380]
Viper's running G attack is rather unique. While running, pressing G puts your character into a flying front flip, then you can press K three times in succession to perform a combo. While in the flipping animation, your character is immune to all recovery attacks and any attack with a low hitbox. In addition, this attack makes your character MOVE FAR. As such, its use as wake-up game is superb. Use it to snipe recovery dives or avoid recovery kicks, then slap 380+ damage in their face. Aside from that, there isn't a whole lot else you can do with it. A useful thing to note is that stopping at the first K on a blocking opponent is completely safe.

Juggles
Basic Kick Juggle
K(K+G) P P KKKKK kG
90, 100, 48, 48, 54, 30, 33, 54, 60, 96, 120 [733]

STRATEGY:

Viper is in a both enviable and unenviable position as a scroll. On the positive end, it has one of the most powerful kick combo + kG combinations in the game, as well as high damage overall. On the other hand, Viper's recoveries on its mainstay, the kicks, are just plain bad. As such, I must applaud Nimonix for making a powerful kick-based scroll almost completely unspammable, something they failed at with Rage. Use Viper's kicks only when necessary, and go for the juggle when you're absolutely sure you can land the launcher. If your opponent gets in too close for comfort, switch to using your punches. They're faster than your kicks, and relieve pressure easier than any other of Viper's combos. Viper is one of those scrolls that can just easily be torn apart as it can tear you apart.
